So, you want to wear the Eldredge tie knot? You think you’re a hot shot? Well, then let me bring you to earth… The Eldredge Knot is by far one of the illest things I’ve done with clothing in a long time. When I was a teenager I thought that I accomplished something when I finally learned to tie a tie. Then I saw this crazy knot on Pinterest and promised myself that I’d figure it out.
Sometimes you gotta be a “G” and wow ’em. The creator of this knot said that this is a great conversation piece. If you wear this in the right settings then I think he’s spot on. Wear this at a mixer or a networking event and I’m sure that people will want to know what your deal is. They’ll probably mistake you for some fascinating Brit until your Oklahoma accent comes out. If you have a job interview, you may just nail it because you took the time to make something so mundane extraordinary. Then again, they could also mistake you for a show-off so proceed with caution. Either way, using this technique to revamp a necessary fashion accessory is a move worth trying out.
If you follow Ugly Boy Fresh on Twitter or if you connect on Facebook then you probably saw that I pulled off the Eldredge a few weeks ago. It came out good but the tie that I used just wasn’t the right one. It had a pattern and it wasn’t very pronounced. As you will see in the pics, these came out great.
Tying the Eldredge is not a difficult process but it can be frustrating. I was in the mirror and had my laptop watching the instructional video. The first time that I made an attempt at it, it took me a good 15 minutes to come out with the Dredge, I left the El somewhere in the beginning. I went back to the drawing board and started over. This time I was heavy on the El and the Dredge went on vacation.
The problem turned out to be me. I was mirroring the video and that is where I had the problem. Once I started tying it to the opposite direction of the gent in the video the magic happened. There are less than 10 steps to this knot and it’s pretty fun once you get the hang of it. It kind of reminds me of underwater basket-weaving.
Check out the video by the guy who claims that he invented the knot and look my pics. I think I did a pretty good job. Leave some feedback and let me know what you think! Also, if you do this send me a pic of yourself in the E-knot, I will post it!
Is this something that you will try?
